SVQs are work-based qualifications which assess the skills and knowledge people have and need to perform their job role effectively. The SVQs are based on national standards of competence which have been determined by SkillsActive (Sector Skills Council for Playwork). These standards are the benchmarks of competent performance in playwork.

Mandatory units
Reflect on and develop practice Work with colleagues and other partners to develop and organisational framework for play Develop, manage and review operational plans for play provision Establish and develop working relationships Optional units
Research, design and facilitate possibilities for self-directed play Manage and develop play facilities and services Provide leadership in your area of responsibility Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work on your area of responsibility Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
Target Group:
This is a suitable qualification for workers who hold responsibilities for the overall development, management and quality assurance of service provision i.e. supervisor, playleader, manager/lead practitioner.
Duration:
The timescale for completing this qualification is eighteen months. A total of nine units must be completed to achieve this qualification.
Certification:
Certification is awarded by SQA on completion of this qualification.
