Separate one-day courses are available to both on and off licence staff and both focus on issues relating to the service/sale of alcohol including the important issues of due diligence.

Course Content: 

Each course focuses on the legal responsibilities of Personal Licence Holders and the different management issues relevant to a particular type of licensed premises. Each course covers:

  • Licensing Law
  • Other Key Legislation
  • The Premises Environment
  • Licensing Officials
  • Alcohol 
Target Group: 

With the arrival of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, all personal licence holders in Scotland will require to hold an accredited licensing qualification.

Benefits: 

Current licence holders will be unable to apply for their new licence without having successfully completed this course.

Duration: 

This course is taught over one day and the final assessment of the course is carried out through a multiple-choice exam, which is usually held at the end of the final taught session.

Certification: 

Successful candidates will receive a certificate awarded by City & Guilds accredited by SQA and valid throughout Scotland.
