Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulation, 1981 every employer has the responsibility to provide and have in place first aid cover for all of their employees.  This Health and Safety Executive approved course will cover primary and secondary care and the treatment and management of medical emergencies in the workplace.

Course Content: 

The course will include the following subject areas:

  • Introduction to First Aid
  • Airway, Breathing and Circulation (ABC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardio-Pulmonary
  • Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Examination Techniques of the Conscious and
  • Unconscious Casualty
  • Sprains, Strains and Fractures
  • Practical Bandaging and Casualty Handling
  • Hypothermia and Effects of Heat and Cold
  • Heart Attack, Angina and Stroke
  • Dealing with Nose Bleeds and Eye Injuries
  • Epilepsy and Seizures
  • Diabetes and Asthma
  • Dealing with Burns
  • Common Airway Problems and Choking
  • First Aid and the Workplace
  • Poisoning and Anaphylaxis
Target Group: 

This course is aimed at anyone in Business, Industry or Education who requires an HSE First Aid at Work certificate.

Benefits: 

Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, this certificate will allow the holder to act as a First Aider.

Duration: 

The course is three days with an assessment taking place on the afternoon of the last day of the course. A handbook is provided to support the course and participants will work individually and in groups.
